The project –“Tropical Artisan Villa”

The site -

This 7500 square foot residential plot is located in Hanumangarh, Rajasthan. This property aims to be a modern villa made with eco–friendly material which directly connects us with nature. Incorporating art into the design was another challenge.

The brief-

There are times when people want to hold back on their fast–moving life and relax and spend quality time with their family. The client expresses their interest in contemporary style which is as calm and serene as nature and art. Every space has different look and feel which enhance mood and spaces should follow their daily life routine.

The design intent -

We intended to create elegant breathing spaces which accompany Vastu. Planning according to the Vastu, strengthen the property. The façade of the villa faces the southwest direction which is completely packed to block harsh sunlight and most of the openings face the north and east direction to welcome a good amount of sunlight. Instead of giving a front entrance to the villa, we propose a side entry along with a driveway that is directly connected to the backside kitchen garden. We named it is as “ Tropical Artisan Villa” where we try to incorporate the calmness of nature and its art through different elements.

The spatial configuration/flow -

As you enter, there isa 30 feet by 30 feet front lawn on the right. Moving forward to the main entrance, there is a huge lobby that is flanked by two areas Drawing / Bedroom with an attached washroom and Staircase on the right and Living / Dining on the left along with other spaces. Walking through, there is a Bedroom with an attached washroom and a Pooja room on the left and a kitchen along with a store room on the right. A 50 feet by 50 feet kitchen garden at the backside of the villa.

The design and material details of each room/area of the project -

Keeping the language constant internal spaces are designed as per their usage and each space speaks its own story. Use of subtle shade of green, grey, and beige. White oak veneer act as a décor layer that adds soothing value to the house.
The main entrance door has carved with mandala design which itself explains the whole journey of the house.
In the living room, the contemporary L – shaped sofa sits on a tone of grey with the nicely placed center table which is in white oak wood. The backside wall of the sofa is decorated with hand-painted leaves which gives warmth to the spacewith carved floral pattern sideboard. A huge slider with fluted glass act as a visual screen between the dining and living areas. As we move to the Dining area, a grey in a form of laminated patterned storage grabs our attention. Zebra marble flooring defines the space and adds value to the house. While moving to the dining area, a round mirror along with grey toned sideboard has a pinch of smartness in the décor.
Modular kitchen on the right of the dining is a nice combination of white oak and grey laminate. With Albeta flooring, the kitchen has a different level of comfort. The back gallery indicates the kitchen garden which was the client’s dream.
Master bedroom has subtle shades of beige on sofa, curtain and walls. White oak veneer bedside tables enhance the beauty of the brown bed.
In the Drawing room, we played with shades of beige, red cushion, and ottoman in contrast.

The whole villa is like a journey for the innkeeper and visitors. -

The challenges -

The location and orientation of villa is one of the challenge we faced in the start of this project. Incorporating calmness and art of nature in one box was also the tuff part of this tour. Using the right choice of material and colour palette and with our client supportive we successfully completed this project in June end.
